The Dietitian will report to the General Manager, and is responsible for dietary, food safety, marketing and sustainability functions, activities and programs.  The Dietitian provides support to Manager’s and Operators in all facets of dietetics, food safety, sustainability and marketing by advising and executing programs, changes and training.


Contract Role: 5 Months

Needed between 1 - 3 days per week.


Job Duties:

  • Provides support and direction to Manager’s and Operators in all facets listed in job summary.
  • Counsel individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life in the healthcare facility.
  • Continuously update nutrition/sustainability knowledge through current research and education.
  • Works with Managers & Chefs to assist in the development of various menus (seasonal menus, nutritionally adequate, focus on vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and allergies)
  • Inputs and updates menus using online software
  • Performs food safety audits and follow ups
  • Provides food safety training to FLA
  • Monitor food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional safety, sanitation & quality standards
  • Provides and arranges health related training and in-services
  • Develop policies for food service or nutritional programs to assist in health promotion and disease control
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate dietary, nutritional and epidemiological research


  • Post Secondary Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics
  • Successful completion of an internship accredited by Dietitian’s of Canada
  • Registered with Dietetic Association
  • Certified in Food Safety Training
  • Experience and interest in Food Service Operations
  • Effective Communication and strong organizational skills
  • Exercises a high degree of professionalism in daily duties
  • Strong leadership skills and self-directed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization
  • Willingness to learn
  • Service-oriented
  • Able to recognize and meet client needs
  • Capable of working under pressure
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Able to stand/sit/walk for periods of time throughout day
