    Description

    Reporting into the Regional Human Resources Manager, the HR Specialist will assist in the execution of Corporate and Field HR processes and programs. They will provide day to day support to the onsite Managers specifically in the areas of Employee Relations, Labor Relations, and Health & Safety support.

     

    General Job Duties

    • Provides guidance to Managers on Ontario Provincial employment legislation and CBA adherence
    • Oversees progressive disciplinary issues and performance management issues under direction of the HR Manager for both union and non-unionized employees
    • Conducts investigations (hotline, human rights, BCP violations) or otherwise as required and provides recommendations
    • Works with the HR team on recruitment/staffing and orientation programs for all hourly new employees.
    • Provides metrics and report as required e.g. turnover reports, injury and illness claims
    • Assists with data entry with human resources information system
    • Oversees occupational and non-occupational illness and injuries
    • Provides recommendations to mitigate workplace accidents
    • Tracks legislated training requirements for all new hires, probations and annual renewals
    • Conduct basic training as required by business needs
    • Directs staff to appropriate resources related to group benefit plans
    • Oversee leave of absence process and liaisons with the finance department

    Qualifications

    • Education in Human Resources or equivalent field experience
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, HRIS systems
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
    • Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize, and work under pressure in a fast paced environment
    • Experience in a Unionized environment an assist
