    Aramark Canada is recruiting for an HR Shared Service Specialist who will be responsible for providing support to front line managers regarding HR policies, practices, processes, tools, employee relations, labour relations, performance management, and provincial/territorial legislation. Main area of focus is to provide guidance and direction to assist managers in solving day-to-day HR matters.

    This includes conducting workplace investigations and recommending effective solutions and corrective actions in accordance with policy and applicable laws.

    This position is based out of Aramark Canada’s head office: 811 Islington Avenue, Toronto, ON.



    Job Responsibilities 


    • Provide support and guidance to front line managers through the HR Service Centre in all areas of HR by following defined HR processes
    • Assist managers in the resolution of general employee relations issues; provide guidance and recommendations to all levels of leadership, ensure fairness and consistency of policy and practice.
    • Provide consultation to managers on interpretation and compliance to policies and legislation regarding employment related matters.
    • Guide managers through the process of investigating and resolving complaints, issues and concerns regarding employment practices.
    • Ensure the appropriate level of investigation is assigned and that relevant documentation and resolution is in place using established investigation guidelines
    • Recommend appropriate resolution of complaints, develop action plans and follow up to ensure completion.
    • Provide support to field managers for the management of all leaves of absence including non-occupational disability leaves. This will include all correspondence with employee, third party adjudications and the return to work process.
    • Interact with internal (COEs, Field HR) and external resources (vendors) to obtain needed information to manage work to completion.
    • Assist with HR projects and initiatives as required; maintain and monitor case master document to ensure information is current and accessible.
    • Work with front line managers to manage non-occupational leaves including general administration, case management, accommodation and compliance with related policies and employment laws.


    • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field is required
    • 2 - 3 years of experience in an employee relations / HR shared service role
    • Strong knowledge of current legislation in ESA, Human Rights Act, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act and experience working across provincial/territorial and federal employment laws
    • Previous experience and exposure in most areas of HR
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; fact based approach to problem solving; able to communicate with tact and diplomacy
    • Ability to influence others on policies, practices and procedure
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
    • Effective at gathering and synthesizing information from multiple parties
    • Ability to handle sensitive and highly personal information on a daily basis and maintain confidentiality in a mature and non-judgmental, unbiased manner
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, Power point and working knowledge of HR systems
    • Fluency in French (written and verbal) would be highly preferred.
