    Aramark, is a world leader in the provision of award-winning food services, and has an immediate opening for an Assistant Residence Manager at Memorial University, St. John’s campus. We are looking for a candidate with a strong passion for the industry, as well as the know how to build, direct and manage a team.     Reporting to the Residence Dining Manager and working in conjunction with the Executive Chef on a daily basis, the Assistant Residence Manager will assist the Manager with daily Food Service operations in the residence dining hall at Memorial University.  This will include supervision of staff, and helping to plan, organize and direct all aspects of the Food Service operations on a day-to-day basis within a corporate environment.


    Job Responsibilities: 


    • Supervise the day to day operations of the food services, includes delegating tasks, motivating and coaching employees as required.
    • Meet daily with the Manager to discuss operational and staffing concerns
    • Assist with flow of day to day operations on the floor
    • Manage and direct food production planning, waste management, record keeping, follow up, and modification based on business volumes
    • Ensure food safety standards and HACCP enforced at all times
    • Proactively manage food and labour cost controls
    • Assist with the recruitment, training and orientation of staff
    • Responsible for assisting in staff scheduling and filling shifts as needed.
    • Assist in dealing with staff related issues such as vacation requests, progressive discipline and other operational concerns as they arise.
    • Conduct weekly inventory
    • Responsible for supervising cash handling procedures, which include: Balance cash float, Safe, and verify deposit
    • Responsible for completing all safety documentation
    • Resolve customer complaints as they arise, escalating to the Manager as necessary.
    • Fill in for the Residence Dining Manager when required
    • Ensure adherence to all of ARAMARK’s Policies and Procedures
    • Ensure adherence to ARAMARK’s Health and Safety Policy
    • Other duties as assigned by management from time to time


    • A minimum of 1-3 years supervisory experience, preferably in a food service environment
    • Self directed with strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Previous culinary or production planning experience an asset
    • Strong organizational and team building skills
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate team members
    • Knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, Power Point and Word
    • Extensive knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards
    • fst trained an asset
    • Experience with scheduling and hiring
    • Proven ability to multi task and work under pressure in a fast paced environment
    • Ability to work flexible hours is essential. This is shiftwork and will include early mornings, evenings, and weekends/holidays
