    Senior PAYROLL Analyst

    Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for overseeing   accurate and timely payroll results to approximately 15,000 Canadian-based employees. Working with the Payroll team, the Senior Payroll Analyst effectively administers the day-to-day payroll operations of a complex multi-provincial, multi union organization to ensure timely and accurate completion of different payrolls every pay period representing various lines of business. 

     

    Main Responsibilities include:

    • Provides guidance and support to other Payroll team members relating to the full payroll process
    • Responsible for the day to day payroll process of the in-house payroll system, ensures the timely and accurate delivery of payroll services
    • Assist with data integrity of PR/HR data
    • Knowledge of customized payroll calculations relating to union collective agreements and assist with new ratified agreements (letters of instructions) relating to payroll changes
    • Work with the Payroll Manager to ensure compliance with legislation for the deduction reconciliations, remittance of all statutory deductions and employee benefits to reduce organizational risk of non-compliance
    • Leads the year-end preparation including year-end tape filing requirements
    • Assist with required reports to all government agencies, annual reconciliations and preparation of year-end tax forms (T4s/T4As, & RL1/RL2)
    • Assist location managers with ad hoc reports to provide payroll related information
    • Partner with Payroll Accounting to ensure completion of all payroll general ledger account monthly reconciliations and fiscal year end
    • Ensure high standards of confidentiality are practiced by the payroll staff
    • Lead special projects, and new initiatives related to payroll
    • Identify and implement process improvements to engage best practice gained from research

     

    Qualifications

     

    Qualifications and Competencies:

    • Ultimate Software (UltiPro) work experience a definite asset or equivalent in-house payroll system
    • Post-secondary education in a related discipline (payroll, business, accounting etc) or a
    • combination of education and relevant experience
    • Completion or enrollment in Canadian Payroll Association certificate program:
    • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) is a definite asset
    • Minimum of 5+ years of experience working in a complex payroll environment including
    • multiple union collective agreements
    • Proven knowledge of all Federal and Provincial payroll related legislation an
    • employment standards
    • Demonstrated problem solving skills surrounding complex issues, analytical and decision
    • making ability
    • An understanding of financial reporting and internal control framework audit
    • Proficient in Income Tax calculations and formulas
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
    • Excellent Computer skills, proficient with Word and strong advance Excel skills (vlookup)
