Description

Aramark Canada is looking to hire for a General Manager to manage the Food Service contract at Memorial University campus based in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador.

 

Reporting to the District Manager, the General Manager will oversee the daily foodservice and will be responsible for the profitable management of these services under contract with the Client. Responsibilities include interaction with the client, customers and employees and providing vision to growing the business while exemplifying excellent leadership.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all operating standards are achieved
  • Grow Catering business through Marketing initiatives
  • Establish and maintain procedures for purchasing, receiving, storage, preparation and service of food
  • Coordinate and supervise personnel regarding production, merchandising, quality and cost control, labour, scheduling, staffing and training
  • Assist front line managers with any operational and staffing issues
  • Train, develop and mentor the management team and establish succession plans
  • Ensure that standards for sanitation and food safety are met
  • Prepare business plans, budgets and forecasts
  • Monitor financial operating results in order to achieve company and client objectives
  • Develop new initiatives and programs to improve sales and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all business sectors
  • Maintain records to comply with Aramark, and government standards
  • Ensure compliance with Marketing and Human Resources Programs
  • Ensure adherence to Aramark’s policies and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to Aramark’s Health and Safety Programs

Qualifications

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Hospitality management or related field
  • Successfully demonstrated experience in a leadership capacity, managing a staff of direct reports between 6-8 while overseeing a staff of 100-120 employees
  • Minimum 5 years progressive management experience in a multi-campus, multi-unit and similar sized operation
  • Experience in Higher Education accounts with retail and resident experience would be an asset
  • Experience working in a unionized environment would be a definite asset
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical, project planning, and excellent financial management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers, colleagues and staff
